In our descriptions the name in parentheses is the hybridizer or other source; (F) is fragrant, (VF) is very fragrant; (E) is early blooming, (M) is midseason and (L) is late.

Size of a plant is indicated by short, medium or tall. Most peonies are 32" to 36" tall. A few are shorter - 18" to 24", some are taller - 36" or more. Indicated heights are for peonies grown in full sun. Actual height may also be dependant on cultural conditions.

Bloom times are indicated by E for Early, M for Midseason or L for Late and are just a guideline, not precise timing. If you want peonies in your garden to bloom in mid to late May in Western Washington, get singles. All of the others bloom here within the first two weeks of June and may continue through the month.

A few blossoms can occasionally appear in the fall in our climate, but this is not to be expected.
