Tree peonies are not really trees. They're woody shrubs with
flowers so commanding, it's easy to see why they're known at the
Queen of Flowers.
They are much slower than herbaceous peonies in attaining their
full garden glory, and so correct planting and patience are requisite
before you can start counting blooms. Sorry, there are simply
no get-blooms-quick schemes, even when planting bigger, fatter,
older plants. You still need to give the plants time to do their
thing.
Tree peonies at maturity are nothing short of breathtaking, but
you need to temper your expectations with some of the cultural
realities, like the weather and the time it takes for a tree peony to grow good roots in a new location.
NOTE: Since our tree peonies are shipped bare root, they are shipped only in the fall. Many more varieties are available at the nursery.
SIZE: Most are multi-branched 3 to 4 yrs stock with thick stems; some are divisions from older stock. All are quality specimens.
